HHFA: Community Service Activity: Request volunteers for parking at Relay4Life
May 19 @ 11:00 am - 9:00 pm
Hogs and Heroes Foundation,
We have been asked to volunteer in providing parking support at the Relay for Life event on May 19, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Earleigh Heights Fire Department. This is a community service activity to support an event that its mission is to free the world from cancer. Every one of us has been impacted by someone affected by cancer. Most recently for the Foundation, we lost our National Senior Sergeant at Arms Ed “Grizz” Cloutier. Let’s all help support this event in honor of Grizz!
Requesting around 15 – 20 people volunteers for this event. We need to be flexible since this is the first time that the event has been held at this location and not sure how fast parking will fill up. It is possible that once the lots are full, we won’t need as many to help.
We will set up five posts to be used in assisting parking. (See map below)
During the hours from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Relay For Life Participants will be dropping off items for setting up their booths. They will be allowed to drive up to the Registration area to drop off items. Post One will direct Participants to the Registration area.
Post One will direct all handicap vehicles to the blue area and direct all other vehicles to Post Two or Three, filling parking area 1 and 2 first. Post Two or Three will direct vehicles to Post Four, when parking area 1 and 2 are filled.

Schedule of events:
Survivor’s Dinner starts at 12:30 PM
Opening Ceremony starts at 2:00 PM
Time to get started. We kick off the event by honoring everyone who’s been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s Relay season.
Survivors and Caregivers are the heart and soul of Relay For Life events. We honor their strength and courage with every step they take. It doesn’t matter if you were diagnosed 10 days ago or 10 years ago, you can walk while everyone gathers together to cheer you on.
During this ceremony we represent everyone touched by cancer with a Luminaria. Each light represents a life—a life taken by cancer, a survivor of cancer, or a support for a person still fighting the disease. It’s a powerful demonstration that gives people the opportunity to grieve but also offers comfort and hope.
Closing Ceremony ends at midnight
Our closing ceremony is the time to commit to take action and help lead the fight for a world free from cancer. It’s a time to celebrate what we’ve accomplished together and a time to unify for the work that needs to be done moving forward.
