NY-1: Mission Support – 7th Annual Jonathan Cote Memorial Ride & Fundraiser
August 2, 2015 @ 10:30 am
Meet up at 10:30 – KSU 10:45
Jonathon Cote was a U.S. Army Veteran from Western New York who was taken hostage, along with four others, while working as a private security contractor in Iraq on November 16th, 2006. He was held captive/missing for 523 days before his body was found and flown home to us in Buffalo, NY on April 28th, 2008. The family and friends of Jon, have organized a motorcycle ride and fundraising event in his honor! We have created this event to raise money for an annual $1,000.00 scholarship for a selected student of Williamsville North High School in Jon’s memory. More info at Cyberspokes.com. Any of the money raised that is left over will be donated to WNY Heroes, Inc. in order to help them serve and support our WNY military heroes and their families.
Sign in for the memorial ride will begin at 11:00am in front of Williamsville North High School at the horseshoe entrance on Dodge Road, near Jon’s memorial tree and plaque. Sign in will end at 12:30pm and will be followed by an informational rider meeting and prayer. The cost is $20 per driver and $10 per passenger. Each person will receive a lapel pin & sticker for participating, a free meal, and a pamphlet with information about Jon, the event, and the ride route. We plan to leave the high school starting at 1:00pm on a scenic route that will take us about 1.5 hours and will end at the La Casa Cardenas Restaurant (1437 Ridge Road, Lewiston, NY 14092). All makes and models of motorcycles are welcome! If you do not have a motorcycle or cannot participate in the ride, you are more than welcome to join us at the La Casa Cardenas Restaurant at 2:30pm when all the motorcycles should arrive from the ride. There will be a live music with The Mombrea Brothers Band! (Jon’s cousins), food, and beverages as well as silent auctions, and a 50/50 raffle. This event keeps getting bigger and bigger every year with over 150 motorcycles participating! We wish to continue this event’s success and look forward to seeing you there to make it memorable. If you have any questions, please contact Christopher Cote 716-693-1619.
