Warrior Canine Connection utilizes Canine Connection Therapy to help warriors recovering from the stress of combat reconnect with their families, communities and life. By helping train the dogs as they move from puppyhood to training to adult service dogs, Warrior Trainers benefit from a physiological and psychologicalanimal-human connection. As a result of their efforts, Veterans with disabilities receive well-trained service dogs. Warrior Canine Connection Executive Director Rick Yount and WCC Research Director Meg Daley Olmert work to identify and pursue research opportunities that explore why training a service dog relieves symptoms of post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. It is hoped that this research will provide scientific evidence that dogs are providing powerful therapeutic support that improves the lives of wounded Warriors and their loved ones.
